Shelters
Passive Cooling Shelter
Franz Isella Passive Cooling Shelter is the most reliable and comprehensive answer to equipment housing.
It is a sturdy stand-alone boxlike structure, normally made of aluminium or steel, airtight and very well thermally insulated.
The shelter has a thermal exchange system, which doesn’t require active components, designed in such a way to maintain the desired temperature inside the shelter with a minimum oscillation.
Franz Isella patented Passive Cooling Shelters have a wide range of applications such as:
Microwave Stations |
Supervisory Utilities |
Switching |
Mobile phone system |
Power stations |

Working Principle
Passive cooling is the clever use of a well-known physical phenomena in order to:
- limit the range of temperature oscillations inside the shelter regardless of daily thermal excursions
- provide an easy way to remove heat by transferring it from the inside to the outside of the shelter (over night)
This two objectives are achieved by a natural, closed circuit, liquid circulation system made up of heat exchangers and an accumulation tank.
Testing
After the dimentioning every piece is tested in our climatic chamber that reproduces temperature conditions of the site where the shelter will work for a long period of time.

Active cooled shelters

As per Passive Cooling Shelters, Franz Isella produces active air conditioned shelter having the same wide range of applications to be used in urbanized areas.
